WE WEAR RED FOR OUR SISTERS

Many tribes believe red is the only color spirits see. It is hoped that by wearing red, all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited persons (MMIWG2S) will be called home so they may peacefully rest.

* TRIGGER WARNING *

Indigenous women are 10x more likely to go missing or be murdered than non-indigenous women.

5,712 was the most reported count of MMIWG2S in 2016. The number of MMIWG2S is much higher than that.

There is no accurate number due to the immense amount of unreported cases.

Law officials have failed to create an effective database that precisely identifies such cases by ethnicity.

This is not only an issue of under-counted crimes. This is genocide.

A true human-rights crisis that we must correct.
